Mini-review
I really loved the Lila books and I’m super excited to read Sarah’s next book, The Sound, so hearing that there was going to be a short e-novella connecting the novel? I was pretty excited.

Man, I missed Lila and Alex! The chemistry between them was as sizzling as ever and I think Alex got even hotter even though I didn't think that was possible. I loved that jack got in the way every time that Lila and Alex got a little bit...preoccupied and I found myself laughing aloud at his antics.

I thoroughly enjoyed being back in Lila’s world and now I’m even more looking forward to The Sound and meeting Ren and Jesse properly.

Synopsis

She’s been sent by the Assassin’s Guild to collect on a debt they are owed by the Lord of the Pirates. Mini-review
The Assassin and the Pirate Lord takes place two years before the beginning of Throne of Glass when Celaena is sixteen. She's arrogant, annoying and a bit of a brat really - a very different girl to the one I first met in ToG. It took a while to adjust to her character so I was pleased that she grew up in such a short amount of time. By the end of the novella she was on her way to becoming the Celaena I know and love.

I have to say that my faovurite thing about The Assassin and the Pirate Lord by far was who we got to meet: the famous Sam. Yep, Sam who Celaena fell in love with and then got killed. He's completely adorable and I totally understand what she saw in him. But mostly I loved that they were at loggerheards to begin with. It took a dangerous and life-changing mission for them to start to see eye to eye. This e-novella showed their beginning and I hope that we see their relationship progress and develop over the series of novellas.

A must for fans of the series.

Mini-review
This is by far my favourite of The Bane Chronicles so far. Set in 1903, The Midnight Heir takes us twenty five years after the end of Clockwork Princess and back to the London Institute. So if you haven’t read Clockwork princess yet and plan to, stop reading! And don’t read this novella until you have – there are many, many spoilers...

I loved revisiting Tessa and Will and getting to meet their troubled son, James. It made me so, so excited for the fourth Shadowhunter series, which we only have the initials for, TLH. Being back in the world of the Herondales and Edwardian London was such a treat and the relationships and dynamics of TID where all there in The Midnight Heir. Honestly, it made me want to re-read The Infernal Devices...ei

  1. I'm so glad you enjoyed The Midnight Heir! I can't wait until TLH either now. I'm such a huge fan of the Shadowhunter novels. Must endure City of Heavenly Fire first. Don't know how I'll cope!

I have the Throne of Glass novellas but haven't read them yet. Will have to soon!
