I haven’t finished a YA novel in
over two weeks. And I’ve barely managed to read 100 pages of one since then.
But I have read two classics, two
audiobooks and several trashy romance novels.
I’m not going to lie, I’m
worried. I sped through those romances and my love for audiobooks never wavers,
but I’m struggling to pick up the YA I’m currently reading. Even though I know
it’s a quick and easy enough read for me to finish it in one more sitting, I just
have no inclination to read it.
I keep choosing an audiobook over
physical reading, watching YouTube or just messing around on the internet.
It’s almost like I’m in a
YA-specific slump and I really don’t know what to do about it. I don’t want to
pick up something I'm really excited about in case I end up DNFing it.
I guess I’ll just have to ride it
out and hope for the best.

I'm in a weird rom-com mood at the moment as well, so maybe there's something in the air! YA will still be there when you feel like reading it again :)
ReplyDeleteI have definitely learnt to go with my mood when it comes to reading. If YA isn't doing it for you right now then take a break from it, enjoy your trashy romance books, the classics and your audiobooks and then in a few weeeks/months you'll suddenly catch the YA bug again I'm sure. Trying to force yourself to read it when you're not in the mood will just make your slump last longer!
