Snaffled from S&S:

How My Summer Went Up in Flames – Jennifer Salvato Doktorski

Rosie’s always been impulsive. She didn’t intend her cheating ex-boyfriend’s car on fire. And she never thought her attempts to make amends could be considered stalking. So when she’s served with a temporary restraining order on the first day of summer vacation, she’s heartbroken – and furious.

To put distance between Rosie and her ex, Rosie’s parents send her on a cross-country road trip with responsible, reliable neighbour Matty and his two friends. Forget freedom of the road, Rosie just wants to hitchhike home and win back her ex. But with every mile marker that passes, Rosie discovers a new sense of self...andthat sometimes the best revenge is moving on.

I’ve had my eye on this forever!

Fifteenth Summer – Michelle Dalton

The summer she’ll never forget...

Chelsea isn’t looking forward to her summer at the lake. It’s the first time her family has been there since her grandmother died, and she can’t break out of her funk. But her summer takes a turn for the better when she meets a book who works in the bookstore. Josh is sweet, cute, funny...and best of all, seems to like her as much as she likes him.

As the days pass by in a blur of boat rides, picnics and stolen kisses, she can’t believe how lucky she is. No one has ever made her feel so special, or so beautiful. But Chelsea knows her days are numbered. She’ll be heading home at the end of the summer and he’ll be staying behind.

Will this be Chelsea’s summer of love? Or will it be the summer of her broken heart?

I’d never heard of this, but it sounds right up my street.

Being Friends With Boys – Terra Elan McVoy

Charlotte and Oliver have been friends forever. She knows that he, Abe, and Trip consider her to be one of the guys, and she likes it that way. She likes being the friend who keeps them all together. Likes offering a girl’s perspective on their love lives, likes being behind the behind-the-scenes wordsmith who writes all the lyrics for the boys band. Char has a house full of stepsisters and a past full of backstabbing (female) ex-best friends, so for her, being friends with boys is refreshingly drama-free...until it isn;t anymore.

When a new boy enters the scene and makes Char feel like, well, a total girl...and two of her other friends have a falling out that may or may not be related to one of them deciding he possibly wants to be more than friends with Char...being friends with all these boys suddenly becomes a lot more complicated.

I’ve had my eye on this for a while as well – yay!

Teeth – Hannah Moskowitz

Be careful what you believe in.

Rudy’s life is flipped upside down when his father moves to a remote island in a last attempt to save his sick younger brother. With nothing to do but worry, Rudy sinks deeper and deeper into loneliness, and he lies awake at night listening to the screams of the ocean beneath his family’s rickety house.

Then he meets Diana, who makes him wonder what he even knows about love, and Teeth, who makes him question what he knows about anything. Rudy can’t remember the last time he felt so connected to someone, but being friends with Teeth is more than a little bit complicated. He soon learns that Teeth has terrible secrets. Violent secrets. Secrets that will force Rudy to choose between his own happiness and his brother’s life.

I think this sounds heart-racing.

For review:

Paper Aeroplanes – Dawn O’Porter

I just can’t imagine me without you...

It’s the mid-1990s, and Guernsey teenagers Renée and Flo are not really meant to be friends. but extroverted Renée and introspective Flo are united by loneliness and their dysfunctional families, and an intense bond is formed. Fifteen is an age when anything can happen, where life stretches out before you, and when every betrayal feels like the end of the world. For Renée and Flo it is the time of their lives.

I think sounds fantastic. Thanks Hot Key!

The 5th Wave – Rick Yancey

The 1st Wave
Took out half a million people.

The 2nd Wave
Put that number to shame.

The 3rd Wave?
That took a little longer,
Twelve weeks... Four billion people.

In the 4th Wave,
You can't trust that people are still people.

And the 5th Wave?
No one knows.
But it’s coming.

As relentless as The Hunger Games. As menacing as I Am Number Four. No one is safe in Carnegie-shortlisted Rick Yancey’s terrifying dystopia.

This sounds excellent. Thanks Puffin!

Angelfall – Susan Ee

It’s been six weeks since the angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world.

Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night.

When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with the enemy.

I know it’s bad, but I’s so sceptical about self-published and previously self-published novels. The only one that’s come good for me is Throne of Glass.
