Fallen - Lauren Kate

Fallen - Lauren Kate

Pages: 452
Publisher: Doubleday
Release Date: 17th December 2009

Other Titles by this Author: The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove (12/11/09)

Daniel’s gaze caught hers, and her breath caught in her throat. She recognised him from somewhere. But she would have remembered meeting someone like him. She would have remembered feeling as absolutely shaken up as she did right now.

But what do you do when the person you’ve spent your whole life looking for keeps slipping out of your grasp? What if the person who are meant to be with can never be yours?

Dangerously addictive and darkly romantic, Fallen is the ultimate gothic love story - a page-turning thriller about fallen angels.

Fallen is everything I like in a book: mystery, elements of the supernatural and a compelling forbidden love. It was addictive.

This book blew me away. I found myself eager to get home so that I could read more and unwilling to put it down for even a second when I did. Lauren Kate has a beautiful, fluid writing style filled with intricate descriptions that made Fallen utterly compulsive. There were some parts of the book that nothing much happened in, but it didn’t matter. I was frantically trying to add up the clues and get some answers so it didn’t feel slow at all.

Fallen was full of mystery. I wanted to know what the shadows were, what happened the night Trevor died, but mostly, what all of the characters did to get themselves stuck in reform school! Although a few of the mysteries were resolved near the end, I still have loads of questions - mostly surrounding Daniel!

I really loved Daniel. He was gorgeous, mysterious, infuriating and utterly irresistible. but the other boy in Luce’s life, Cam, was so overly nice he put me on edge. Yes, I’m paranoid like that! He just seemed a little too good to be true. Arriane and Penn were awesome. Their quirky coolness set them apart from the usual best friend characters. I want to be friends with them!

Fallen is one of the best books that I’ve read in a long time and I’m literally aching for Torment, the next book in the series.

  18. There has been a lot of twilight comparisons, but this book is so much more, in writing style and character depth. It sucks you in and keeps you guessing.

I read it in one sitting, I just couldn't stop. You just need to know more, so many unanswered questions - I'm already hanging for the next installment, it'll be a long wait.

  21. I really enjoyed the book... but I tend to sway towards these reads personally. If you liked twilight - the yes - you will enjoy this one. Seems to be a rather repetitive theme in literature these days with the nonchalant, rude and aloof boy that captivates the heroine's attention (and ours) from word go. But hey! It's still a lovely read from the point of view of a love story/mystery.

  24. i got this book 2 days ago at 6 pm. i finished it the following day at 3 in the morning. i have never been so engrossed in a book. i am a huge fan of the 'Twilight Saga'-Stephenie Meyer and never thought i'd find another book that would pull me in with quite the same force. But then for christmas i was presented with 'Hush Hush' - Becca Fitzpatrick. My nan had gotten it me, hoping that she would introduce me into other books. i thought that as soon as i started reading it i would not be able to finish it, because it would simply be a let down. but i also completed that on the same day i started it. i founmd my self needing another book about fallen angels, which is when i came across Fallen. i made my dad search in about 6 book shops to find it. and i was sucked into it. it has to be one of the most amazing things i've read. the story line was amazing and the characters wre phenomenal. i immediately put myself into Luce's shoes and felt the same emotions that she did, which i'd only experienced in The Twilight Saga and Hush Hush. i was simply gob smaked and cannot wait untill Torment comes out in September.
Thank you Lauren Kate for writing these books. i was hooked from the first page, and i think it takes an amzing writer to make a reader feel the emotions that are in the book. So thank you so much.

  28. Best book I've read in SO long. You can relate with Luce's thoughts and emotions. I couldn't put it down. September's just too far away. I'll have to write fanfiction about this to make time fly by faster... *sigh* I recommend this to all (and will force my sisters to read it, if need be).
