Letterbox Love #111

Letterbox Love is a way to give all of the books I receive for review some exposure. Summaries are taken from the cover, or Amazon/NetGalley/Goodreads in the case of e-books, unless otherwise stated.

Never Evers, Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison (paperback)

The school ski trip isn’t going to plan. Mouse has fallen out with her friends and Jack’s totally clueless about girls. But when a French pop star – who Jack’s a dead ringer for – arrives in the resort, the snowy slopes begin to get a bit more interesting…

Yay! I loved Lobsters so I'm super excited for this. Thanks Chicken House and Riot!

Anna and the Swallow Man, Gavriel Savit (proof)

Krakow, 1939, is no place to grow up. There are a million marching soldiers and a thousand barking dogs. And Anna Lania is just seven years old when the Germans take her father and suddenly, she's alone.

Then she meets the Swallow Man. He is a mystery, strange and tall. And like Anna’s missing father, he has a gift for languages: Polish, Russian, German, Yiddish, even Bird. When he summons a bright, beautiful swallow down to his hand to stop her from crying, Anna is entranced.

Over the course of their travels together, Anna and the Swallow Man will dodge bombs, tame soldiers, and even, despite their better judgement, make a friend. But in a world gone mad, everything can prove dangerous…

I don’t usually like war novels, but this sounds sweet, sad and beautiful. Thanks Penguin Random House!

Hamish and the Neverpeople, Danny Wallace (proof)

Nobody knows it yet, but the people of Earth are in big, big trouble.
Like – HUGE trouble. Oh, come on, where’s your imagination? Double what you’re thinking!
And it's all got to do with a shadowy figure, an enormous tower, some sinister monsters, huge clanking and thundering metal oddballs, and people who are just like you…but not like you at all.
Luckily Hamish and the PDF are around to help save the day! Aren’t they??

This looks fun! Thanks S&S!

After the Last Dance, Sarra Manning (e-proof)

Two women. Two love affairs. One unforgettable story.

Kings Cross station, 1943. Rose arrives in London hoping to swap the drudgery of wartime for romance, glamour and living with GIs at Rainbow Corner, the famous dance hall in Piccadilly Circus. As the bombs fall, Rose loses her heart to a pilot but will lose so much more before the war has done its worst.

Las Vegas, present day. A beautiful woman in a wedding dress walks into a seedy bar and asks the first man she sees to marry her. When Leo slips the ring onto Jane’s finger, he has no idea that his new wife will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

So when Jane meets Rose, now a formidable older lady, there’s no love lost between them. But with time running out, can Rose and Jane come together to make peace with the tragic secrets that have always haunted their lives?

After the Last Dance is an extraordinary tale of two women, separated by time but connected by fate, that will make you believe in the redemptive power of unexpected love.

Yay, new Sarra Manning! Thanks NetGalley and Sphere!

The White Rose, Amy Ewing (paperback)

On the run in the Lone City
Enlisted by the Society of the Black Key
Powerless to protect the people she loves

Violet, Ash and Raven has escaped the Jewel, but nowhere will be safe until the royalty is destroyed.

If she can reach the White Rose, Violet may be able to rescue more surrogates. But for one surrogate it is already too late: Raven is pregnant, and that is a death sentence.

Yay! I've been debating getting this on Kindle for a few days (it’s over my normal Kindle book budget of £3!) as I loved book one, then a paperback showed up from Walker! Thanks guys!

Sophie
