UKYA Day!: Most Anticipated UKYA of 2015

The ever-lovely Lucy of Queen of Contemporary is hosting UKYA Day today! A day dedicated to celebrating UKYA across blogs, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and my contribution is going to be my most anticipated UKYA of 2015. Without further ado…

The Last Summer of Us, Maggie Harcourt
Usborne, May
I love UKYA. I love road trips. It’s rare to get them together so I am EXCITED. And this has had rave reviews already so bring it on!

The Lost and the Found, Cat Clarke
Quercus, May
Cat is a queen of gritty, emotional and dark stories and I’m so excited for her latest, even with the utter torment she puts her readers and characters through each time…

We Are All Made of Molecules, Susan Nielson
Andersen Press, May
This is another debut that has racked up some serious pre-publication praise. I’m not even entirely sure what it’s about but I have a beautiful hardback pre-ordered – I have such faith in my blogging friends!

Read Me Like a Book, Liz Kessler
Indigo, May
LGBT YA is still something we need to work on in the UK and this looks like it could be a wonderful addition to the small collection we have at the moment. And look at that cover!

This is Not a Love Story, Keren David
Atom, May
I’m a big fan of Keren’s and this sounds right up my street. My proof is sitting on my shelf taunting me…

First Class Murder, Robin Stevens
Corgi, June
I’ve fallen head over heels for Hazel and Daisy and their super-sleuthing skills so although this is technically middle grade, I’m including this and you can’t stop me!

In Another Life, Laura Jarratt
Electric Monkey, June
I was blown away by Laura’s debut a few years ago and I’ve devoured each of her subsequent releases with the same fervour. She hits you right in the heart and makes you think while she’s at it.

For Holly, Tanya Byrne
Headline, June
Tanya’s books dive into the darker side of UKYA and they’re are some of the best written books I’ve ever come across. I still catch myself thinking about her 2012 debut (Heart-Shaped Bruise) from time to time. She’s a keeper.

Remix, Non Pratt
Walker, June
As well as being a lovely person, Non is a crazy-good writer. She just gets the teen voice, their motivations and their humour. Trouble was in my top 3 of last year so I can’t wait to get my grubby little hands on this.

Air, Lisa Glass
Quercus, June
Cornwall, suffers and amazing ehroines, Blue had it all and was a surprise hit for me last year. Now with a film in the making, everyone should jump on the bandwagon before Air hits shelves this summer.

Counting Stars, Keris Stainton
Hot Key Books, September
I love Keris and her books and this sounds so good. Pitched as a cross between Friends and Fresh Meat, this could be the kind of new adult that I’ve been wanting ever since it sprang up…

Monster, CJ Skuse
MiraINK, September
CJ’s books are always dark and deliciously twisted and they only seem to be getting more so with each one so I think we’re in for a treat with Monster. I’m so happy to have an early proof because September is a long way away.

Quite honestly, I could have gone on and on. And on a little bit more.

Happy UKYA Day!

Sophie
