Letterbox Love #58

Letterbox Love all of the lovely, lovely books I’ve gotten in the post, bought and everything else. Summaries are taken from the cover, or Amazon/NetGalley/Goodreads in the case of e-books, unless otherwise stated. Hosted by Narratively Speaking.

For review:

Unspeakable, Abbie Rushton (e-proof)

Megan doesn’t speak. She hasn’t spoken in months.

Pushing away the people she cares about is just a small price to pay. Because there are things locked inside Megan’s head – things that are screaming to be heard – that she cannot, must not, let out.

Then jasmine starts at school: bubbly, beautiful, talkative Jasmine. And for reasons Megan can’t quite understand. Life starts to look a bit brighter.

Megan would love to speak again, and it seems like Jasmine might be the answer. But if she finds her voice, will she lose everything else?

This sounds incredible. It’s not out until next February though so don’t expect to see much about it for a while yet! Thanks Atom and NetGalley!

Unmade, Sarah Rees Brennan (paperback)

All’s fair in love and magic.

Kami has lost the boy she loves, is tied to a boy she does not, and faces an enemy more powerful than ever before. With Jared missing and presumed dead, Kami must rely on her new magical link with Ash for the strength to face the evil spreading through her town.

Rob Lynburn is now the master of Sorry-in-the-Vale, and he demands a death. Kami must use every tool at her disposal to stop him. Together with Rusty, Angela, and Holly, she uncovers a secret that might be the key to saving the town. But with knowledge comes responsibility – and a painful choice. A choice that will risk not only Kami’s life, but also the lives of those she loves most.

It’s here!! I am crazy excited, but also fearful. SRB is known for breaking her readers’ hearts... Thanks S&S!

Opal Plumstead, Jacqueline Wilson (bound manuscript)

Opal Plumstead might be plain , but she has always been fiercely intelligent. Yet her scholarship and dreams of university are snatched away when her father is sent to prison, and fourteen-year-old Opal must start work at the Fairy Glen sweet factory to support her family.

Opal struggles to get along with the other workers, who think her snobby and stuck-up. But Opal idolises Mrs Roberts, the factory’s beautiful, dignified owner, who introduces Opal to the legendary Mrs Pankhurst and her fellow Suffragettes. And when Opal meets Morgan – Mrs Roberts’ handsome son , and heir to Fairy Glen – she believes she has found her soulmate. But the First World War is about the begin, and will change Opal’s life forever.

The brilliantly gripping new story from the bestselling, award-winning Jacqueline Wilson.

What a lovely surprise from RHCP! I adored JW when I was growing up so I definitely plan on reading her 100th (!!) book, even if it is in an awkward manuscript binding...

Bought:

The Vacationers, Emma Straub (e-book)

Two weeks in a remote island villa with America’s most dysfunctional family – what could possibly go wrong?

It was set to be the family vacation of a lifetime.

From Manhattan to Majorca, two weeks in a remote island villa, with the sort of relaxation, culture and cuisine that only Europe can offer. At least, that was Franny’s plan. She wasn’t counting on the extra baggage...

Warm, wry and glowing with life, The Vacationers is a glorious novel of marriage, friendship, secrets, lies – and love.

This has had rave reviews this summer so I snapped it up while it was on a Kindle bargain!

Superlatives: Biggest Flirts, Jennifer Echols (paperback)

The yearbook votes have been cast.
Senior year is about to get interesting.

Tia just wants to have fun. She’s worked hard to earn her reputation as the life of the party, and she’s ready for a carefree senior year of hanging out with friends and hooking up with cute boys. And her first order of business? New guy Will. She’s can’t get enough of his Midwestern accent and laid-back swagger.

As the sparks start to fly, Will wants to get serious. Tia’s seen how caring too much has left her sisters heartbroken, and she isn’t interested in commitment. But pushing Will away drives him into the arms of another girl. Tia tells herself it’s no big deal...until the yearbook elections are announced. Getting voted Biggest Flirt with Will is, well, awkward. They may be just friends, but their chemistry is beginning to jeopardize Will’s new relationship – and causing Tia to reconsider her true feelings. What started as a light-hearted fling is about to get very complicated...

I really love Jennifer Echols so it’s about time I bought this really!
