While the fourth book in Katie
McGarry’s Pushing the Limits series wasn’t
my favourite, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’m starting to find the
stories of these novels a little formulaic. There’s the rich one and the down
and out one. Sometimes one of the characters has gone from one to the other,
sometimes, one has fallen from grace, and there are some tragic histories and
sad families. West and Hayley were just another version of Echo and Noah, Beth
and Ryan, Rachel and Isaiah. And yet, I did still enjoy Take Me On.
The aspect of kickboxing and
how different Hayley’s life is to what it used to be was really interesting. Not
having an athletic or competitive bone in my body it was cool to learn about
something so alien to me, especially when Hayley’s confusion and hurt about
competing was thrown into the mix. I didn’t have the emotional investment in Take Me On that I had in Pushing the Limits or Crash Into You, but I can’t pinpoint why
– both West and Hayley are interesting characters and they sizzle as a couple.
Even though I felt lukewarm
about Take Me On, I am intrigued to
read the next book in the series, Breaking
the Rules, the continuation of Noah and Echo’s story.

That's a shame you didn't fall in love with this one - I really did but can see what you mean about almost-re-tellings of Echo and Noah's story. I think mostly I liked seeing some of Rachel and Isaiah's story from another's perspective, plus Haley and West were adorable
