Letterbox Love #10 + a little something special...

Letterbox Love came about after some drama with the American book haul memes, so the UKYA bloggers came together on Twitter to organise one of our own. Summaries are taken from the cover, or Amazon/NetGalley/Goodreads in the case of e-books, unless otherwise stated. Hosted by Narratively Speaking.

For Review:

Arclight – Josin L McQueen (paperback)

The first rule of Arclight:
Light is safety. Light is life.

The second:
Never go outside alone.

The third:
No one ever comes back from the dark.

But Marina did.

Marina can’t remember anything about her life before she stumbled out of the Dark and into the Arclight. Where has she come from? How has she survived? And why do the rulers of the Dark seem so determined to destroy her? To find out, she will have to venture back into the dark...

This sounds creepy and really different. Thanks Electric Monkey!

Linked – Imogen Howson (paperback)

Elissa thought she was an only child.
She thought her world was safe.
She was wrong.

Elissa’s discovery that she has a twin sister is shocking. But worse is the state she finds Lin in: bruised, battered, and terrified of the people who have held her captive for fifteen years. With no one left to trust, Elissa and Lin go on the run, change their looks and leave no trace behind – but still they’re barely a step ahead of the agents who are hunting them. Because Elissa and Lin are too valuable to let go – and the dark truth t the heart of it all is too terrible to risk exposing...

I love the sound of this! And the cover is gorgeous. Thanks Quercus.

Bought:

The Assassin and the Desert – Sarah J Maas (e-novella)

The Silent Assassins of the Red Desert aren’t much for conversation, and Celaena Sardothien wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s not there to chatter, she’s there to hone her craft as the world’s most feared killer for hire. When the quiet is shattered by forces who want to destroy the Silent Assassins, Celaena must find a way to stop them, or she’ll be lucky to leave the desert alive.

I loved the first novella so I bought the second straight away!

The Bane Chronicles 4: The Midnight Heir – Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnson (e-novella)

Magnus though he would never return to London, but he is lured by a handsome offer from Tatiana Blackthorn, whose plans – involving her beautiful young ward – are far more sinister than even Magnus suspects. In London at the turn of the centur, Magnus finds old friends, and meets a very surprising young man...the sixteen-year-old James Herondale.

I’m seriously loving this series and I’ve already gobbled this up! Loved it!

Now I have something a little special to throw into your usual dose of booky goodness – Bloomsbury UK has launched a digital story generator for Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight! You can put yourselves and your friends right into the heart of fan-chosen scenes from Throne of Glass. How cool is that?

Give it a go!

Sophie

  2. Yay for The Bane Chronicles! I can't wait until the next one is released. Waiting is torture!

I'm going to start one of the ToG novellas next week, I think.

    Happy reading, Sophie!
